Up until the French Revolution, every art student spent years of their life copying masterworks and learning to see in a different way than most of us are taught today. In my studio, I aim to give the dedicated student those same tools from history to see in a way that allows them to create the art they imagine.
Every student in my studio must either know how to draw or begin with the foundational drawing class. After one session of the drawing class, students may choose one of two tracks:
1. Students may choose to learn still life, portraits, and landscapes through pastels, charcoal, or oil painting. This track allows the student to hone a skill they desire to become better at by dedicating time in my studio under my instruction.
2. Students may choose to follow a classical model to learning art. This track is more teacher led and allows students to learn art techniques in a classical way. Students will learn primarily through sight-size drawing, which continues to train the eye, the greatest tool an artist has.
Students provide their own materials. I will send you a supply list after we discuss your objectives.
